Education: I received my Bachelor's of Elementary Education from the University of Mississippi in 2008 and my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction in 2010 from the University of Phoenix, and in 2017 I earned my National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist.
Experience: The 2019-20 school year marks my 12th year of teaching at Lake Cormorant Elementary. I have taught nine years of 5th grade, two years of second grade, and now 4th grade.
Bio: I was born in Atlanta, GA, where I lived until the age of five. At that time my parents moved to a small town in East Mississippi to be closer to my mom's family. My Dad was a United States Marine and later became a paint contractor. My mother was an accountant until she retired. I have one late sister that lived in Ohio and a brother in Texas. I have lived in several southern states: Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana. I have two children that I adore. Rico is 21 years old and is a student at Northwest Mississippi Community College. Christian is in the 7th grade at Lake Cormorant Middle School. I am also a huge animal lover. I have 4 dogs (3 boxers and 1 beagle), 1 spoiled cat, an African water frog, and a bearded dragon who stays in our classroom. I live in the city limits of Southaven, but consider our homestead, a little farm.
- Our next ZOOM meeting will be May 13th at 1:30. We will be going on a scavenger hunt. Details coming soon! Sorry that the scavenger hunt has taken so long. This may change once more if I am able to get another virtual field trip approved from the Mississippi Wildlife Rehab! I should know more soon.
- FREE breakfast and lunches are available for pickup at the school from 10 to 12 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Children 18 and under receive free meals, but must be in the car at pickup. Adult meals are available for $3.
- The school's WIFI has been increased. You may now get reception from the parking lot from the safety of your car! Please login into the guest WIFI. No password is required.
Please join our class Remind for updates.

Beginning March 25th, math lessons are available on iReady 4 days a week. Each lesson will last approximately 30 minutes.
Since there will be no lessons on Fridays, I encourage you to spend quality time with family. Playing board games and cooking together all use math. Stay safe and make the best of our circumstances.
Science lessons are posted above. There are two lessons each week. Click on the pictures to go the activities.
Nature walks, planting a garden, and taking care of a pet are great science discovery!
Our next ZOOM meeting is next Tuesday the 21st. A code and password will be sent out by noon on that day via School Status and Remind.
