WELCOME!

 I am a 2008 graduate from the University of Mississippi. I am a certified teacher in grades K-12 with endorsements in English, History, and Physical Education. This is my 15th year teaching. I am so blessed to have amazing students and such a fun job!  My husband and I have been married for 17 years and our 2 boys also attend Desoto county schools.

I am so excited to spend this year with your child! Mrs. Swinford and I have worked together for 14 years. We love our students and build such a strong bond with them throughout the year. I am excited to see the growth that they show each month! Thank you to all parents for your support in order for all students to have a successful year.

*Homework- We will not have a weekly homework packet this year. I will send home a sheet with the week’s sight words, but it is just for practice and does NOT have to be turned in. Your child WILL get Guided reading homework and 2 books to read Mon-Thurs. These belong to the school and need to be returned weekly. Graded Papers will come home every TUESDAY in the Homework pouch in their folder.

*Behavior- We have a behavior chart in our classroom. Each child will start the day on green (Ready to Learn). Your child can move their number up for EXCELLENT behavior or down for behaviors that need to be worked on. There is a behavior calendar with codes in your child’s folder that reflects what color they were on for the day. Please review your child’s behavior calendar and INITIAL IT each day. This calendar will stay in your child’s folder. 

Communication is so important to me and is so important for a successful year! If you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Our class has a private Facebook page. It is only for parents in my class. It is a spot that I will post news, pictures, and information. Please join if possible. We will communicate through School Status. I am able to call, text, and send class messages through School Status. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
