Subjects Taught
2nd Grade

I received my Bachelor's of Elementary Education from the University of Mississippi in 2008. At that time I began working as a teacher, but continued my education online through the University of Phoenix. In 2010 I received my Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. Education is a continual process for me. At this time I am continuing my education in a different route. I am currently seeking a National Board Certification. This is a more independent course of educational improvement, but I feel that this process has made me a better teacher through a deep self-reflection of my teaching practices. As a lifetime learner I will continue my educational studies for as long as I possibly can.

The 2015-16 school year marks my 8th year of teaching fifth grade at Lake Cormorant Elementary.

I was born in Atlanta, GA, where I lived until the age of five. At that time my parents moved to a small town in East Mississippi to be closer to my mom's family. My Dad was a United States Marine and later became a paint contractor. My mother was an accountant until she retired. I have one sister that lives in Ohio and a brother in Texas. I have lived in several southern states: Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana. I have two children that I adore. Rico is 16 years old and is a junior at Lake Cormorant High School. Christian is in the 3rd grade at Lake Cormorant Elementary. I am also a huge animal lover. I have 4 dogs (3 boxers and 1 beagle), 1 spoiled cat, a hamster (in our classroom), an African water frog (also in our classroom), and a hermit crab. I live in the city limits of Southaven, but consider our homestead, a little farm.
